Marijuana laws and legislation for Trondheim
From 2025, recreational cannabis will remain illegal in Norway. Possession, consumption, and distribution are punishable under the Norwegian Penal Code and the Medicines Act. While small quantities (up to 15 grams) are generally punished with fines, larger quantities or trafficking-related offenses can lead to imprisonment of up to two years, and up to ten years in serious cases. Despite previous efforts to decriminalize drug possession, including a failed 2021 bill, Norway maintains a harm reduction approach, stating that drug users should not be prosecuted for small amounts for personal use.
Medical cannabis is legal but subject to strict restrictions. Only a few approved cannabis-based medications, such as Sativex and Epidyolex, are available by prescription from Norwegian doctors. Non-approved cannabis medications with a THC content of less than 1% may also be prescribed under strict regulations. CBD products are considered medicinal products, meaning they require a prescription and must contain no more than 1% THC to be legal. While Norway remains strict regarding cannabis, the ongoing debates about legalization, including proposals from politicians like Arild Hermstad, point to the potential for future policy changes.
Criminal prosecution
In this city, nobody wants to get caught. The penalty can be jail or a hefty fine. But as long as you don't deal or smoke in public, everything's fine.
Where can you buy marijuana?
Trondheim is the third largest city in Norway. Hashish can be bought at Torg or even in the Buran district. The dealers are quite young, so just ask a young adult in one of these areas.
Another reporter added: “Lilleby Smelteverk”
And another reporter said: “In Trondheim (a small city), there’s nowhere you can just approach someone and buy marijuana. You have to know someone who sells it. My only tip: Get drunk and just ask someone who looks like a stoner.”
And furthermore: "Mostly available in the 'Buran' district, but also in decent quantities at a youth center called 'UFFA' (mainly frequented by punks and anarchists). Hashish is fairly easy to get, and with the right contacts, weed shouldn't be a problem either."
Our latest reports tell us: You could also try near the “Vår Frues Kirke” (Our Madams Church) and ask some of the different-looking people there.

This city has all kinds of hashish, generally good…

Everything. Nobody knows the names of all the hashish you can get in the city. It's mostly Moroccan hashish.
Further information
Further information: Don't talk nonsense, be an adventurer. Young and terrifying gangsters. People are robbed and stabbed almost daily. Crazy gang. Near "Buran".
A local resident commented: "Trondheim is a very safe city, and stabbings are rare and widely spaced. Therefore, it's not worth mentioning here."
Be careful when consuming hashish in Trondheim, there is a lot of bad hashish (the kind that doesn't get you high and smells really bad).
Always remember: Not taking drugs is the better way of life.
