Marijuana laws and legislation for Timisoara
Since February 2025, cannabis has been illegal in Romania for both recreational and medical use. Despite a 2013 law permitting medical cannabis use under strict state supervision, cannabis remains classified as a high-risk drug and its consumption is prohibited. Possession of any quantity is a crime punishable by two to five years in prison. Activities such as cultivation, production, transport, or distribution can lead to even harsher penalties.
In 2018, the Romanian Supreme Court decriminalized the purchase of small quantities of psychoactive substances for personal use. However, this decriminalization does not extend to possession, which remains a criminal offense.
Cannabidiol (CBD) products are permitted in Romania provided they contain less than 0,2% tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). CBD oils, creams, and other products are available but must comply with THC content regulations.
Efforts to reform cannabis laws continue in the country, but currently the consumption of cannabis for recreational and medical purposes remains illegal and the use of CBD is limited to products with minimal THC content.
Criminal prosecution
They are usually unaware of this and have no idea, but just avoid them.
Where can you buy marijuana?
Mostly from people you know. Don't just go around asking. There are many undercover agents working to track down dealers, and you could be under surveillance.

While relaxing in a hotel bar, this guy helped me get some natural, healthy cannabis. It became one of the highlights of my vacation. I always contact him now at dopefast420@gmail.com. Highly recommended!
Marijuana prices
1 gram = 35–50 Lei (1 Euro = 3,15 Lei). As expensive as it may seem, we're talking about good stuff here. 1 gram = 4 joints. Fat Joes. That's weed. Hashish prices are a bit lower (let's say... 25–50). The quality is good too, but... I think everyone prefers weed to hash.
Marijuana brands
Marijuana brands: mainly Romanian stuff, but if you have the right connections (Timisoara is very close to the border), you can also easily get stuff from Morocco, Vienna, Germany, Hungary, Bulgaria, etc. Usually better stuff, maybe a bit more expensive, but not above the price mentioned above.
Further information
More and more people have started to enjoy marijuana and realize that it is not physically addictive and... no big deal... better a joint a week than a nightcap every day... oh, and rolling papers are available in any of the numerous tobacco shops in the city center and the surrounding streets.
