Marijuana laws and legislation for Tampere
From 2025, recreational cannabis will remain illegal in Finland. Possession, sale, and cultivation are subject to severe penalties. Possession of small amounts can lead to fines or up to six months in prison, while more serious offenses such as illegal trafficking can result in harsher sentences.
Despite an active public debate, including citizen initiatives advocating for decriminalization and regulated sales, no significant legislative changes were passed.
Finland has a limited medical cannabis program that allows patients with certain conditions, such as multiple sclerosis, access to cannabis-based medications like Sativex with a doctor's prescription. However, due to strict regulations, the number of eligible users remains low.
CBD products are classified as medicinal products and require a prescription, but CBD cosmetics and products containing less than 0,3% THC are legally available. Although public interest in cannabis reform is growing, Finland's policy remains among the strictest in Europe, and there are no immediate signs of legalization.

Possession is punishable by a fine, unless the police are busy or in a particularly good mood.
Where can you buy marijuana in Tampere?
Tampere is such a small city in a drug-hostile country like Finland that street sales of cannabis are practically nonexistent. There are a few vendors at summer festivals like Tammerfest. Your best bet is to politely ask dreadlocked people in parks during the summer – you might get lucky.
There are relatively many home growers in the city, so at most nightlife events there are probably people with supplies who never openly sell.
Marijuana and hashish prices: 10–15 €/g for weed is common, hashish is rare these days but costs 10 €/g if you can find it.
