Marijuana laws and legislation for Nicosia
Marijuana has been illegal in Cyprus since 2025, both for recreational and medicinal use. The country has strict laws prohibiting the consumption, possession, and cultivation of cannabis. Possession of even small amounts of marijuana can lead to significant penalties, including fines, imprisonment, or both. Cultivation of cannabis is also illegal, and the government has taken no significant steps toward decriminalizing marijuana or legalizing medicinal cannabis. Although discussions about the potential benefits of medicinal cannabis are taking place in Cyprus, the country maintains a strict stance against marijuana use. The legal framework remains prohibitive, and there are few signs of reform.
Please note that marijuana laws are subject to change. For the most up-to-date information, consult your country's official resources or a legal advisor.
Criminal prosecution
Don't even think about smoking in public. You'll be arrested immediately. Never carry marijuana with you when walking around town. Late at night, for example, after 2 a.m., the police might search you if you appear suspicious.
It's unlikely, but it can happen. The police will arrest you, beat you up if they feel like it, confiscate your weed, and jail you! If you end up in court, you'll be convicted.
What's happening in Cyprus is really awful…
Another reporter added: “The police can’t do anything to you if they don’t find anything on you. Never admit to smoking (they can’t force you to take blood or urine tests). If you get caught, you’ll probably get a beating. Girls get off much more easily.”
Where can you buy marijuana?
You can't buy marijuana if you don't know anyone. At this time of year, even people with good connections find it difficult to locate. *This only happens this year.* It's impossible to buy it on the street. You might find it at psychedelic parties.
Local contacts, like students from private universities, teenagers, and a few bars (which belong to informants, never go there). There are no street dealers, and undercover officers are constantly around!

On a busy street corner, this guy helped me get some incredibly natural cannabis that made my trip perfect. I always contact him at dopefast420@gmail.com. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for top-quality weed.
Marijuana prices
With a bit of luck, you can get Skunk for 35 euros per gram and weed for 20 euros.
Local weed (old stuff) – 10 pounds per gram (make sure it's a gram 🙁)
“Skunk”: 15–20 pounds per gram
40–50 pounds for 3 grams
100 pounds for 7-8 grams
Marijuana brands
Although it's very hard to find, with a bit of luck it's almost impossible to get bad stuff. Everything you get is very good. Cypriot weed and skunk products are amazing. Hashish isn't as popular and is only smoked by a few.
With a lot of luck, you might find White Widow or similar strains, which are imported from Holland in the summer. Otherwise, it's all old Skunk, about a month old, which is revived by adding something or moistening it, and then dried. Hashish is extremely rare in Cyprus and usually of high quality, as it's imported from Lebanon.
Further information
Be careful with some "skunk" products. They can produce an enormous high because they can be laced with any number of opiates, like tramadol or Valium (if you're lucky), or even weed killers and aerosol sprays (if you're unlucky). Never spend any money before you've seen the stuff. Always be careful and don't carry grinders or king-size rolling papers. There are undercover cops everywhere. If you're caught dealing, you'll be punished very severely. If you're caught with a joint, they'll just take you to the police station and ask where you found it. They'll probably take your joint and smoke it themselves. The next morning, you'll be free again.
