Cannabis legislation in Ireland was amended in 2006. Cannabis is the only drug not covered by the Irish Narcotics Act. All other drugs are subject to a list of controlled substances under Irish law; for example, heroin, crack cocaine, etc., are on Schedule 1. For cannabis, a three-offense system applies: one offense results in two warnings, and three offenses lead to a court appearance.
If you don't make a fuss, possession of a small amount will (likely) lead to confiscation. More than a bag (or piece of hashish) can result in arrest, and anything more than that means a court appearance.

Where can you buy marijuana in Limerick?
In the north of the city. Hashish isn't hard to come by—try Dolan's Warehouse or one of the parks around the city; come in groups of at least three and discreetly ask around. The local colleges are usually the best option, though; students there are less likely to try and rip you off. For a visitor, it can be very difficult to get hold of weed.
