Marijuana laws and legislation for Larnaca
Marijuana has been illegal in Cyprus since 2025, both for recreational and medicinal purposes. The country has enacted strict laws prohibiting the consumption, possession, and cultivation of cannabis. Possession of even small amounts of marijuana can lead to severe penalties, including fines, imprisonment, or both.
The cultivation of cannabis is also illegal, and the government has taken no significant steps toward decriminalizing marijuana or legalizing medical cannabis. Although discussions about the potential benefits of medical cannabis are taking place in Cyprus, the country continues to maintain a strict stance against marijuana use. The legal framework remains prohibitive, and there are few signs of reform.

Criminal prosecution
As soon as the police notice anything even slightly suspicious, they'll come and make fun of you. Extreme discretion is advised when smoking in public. The best time and place to smoke undisturbed is at a school or late at night on the beach. Police brutality usually goes unpunished, and foreigners, especially the English, are deeply hated by them. So be careful.
Where can you buy marijuana?
I'm sorry, but if you don't have a connection, you're pretty much out of luck. Even if you do have a connection, it's still quite a hassle to get anything (you have to order it in advance, wait 5 hours for it, and basically overcome a lot of unnecessary hurdles).

Marijuana prices
After Cyprus replaced the pound with the euro, prices exploded.
Previously, a gram cost 10 CYP, and you could occasionally find an ounce for 200 (and also really good, homegrown grass from Cyprus).
But times have changed. Today, mostly hashish is sold, and if you can find any weed at all, it's a shitty amount and everything is incredibly expensive.
20–30 euros – 1 g of Lebanese, Moroccan or Afghan hashish
20–25 euros – 1 gram of foul-smelling weed mixed with male leaves, 40–50 euros – 1 gram of skunk. (Not bad stuff, but who would pay that much for a gram?)
Marijuana brands
Moroccan hashish – hard, dark. Becomes nice and fluffy when heated.
Lebanese hashish – very golden color. Truly uplifting high.
Afghan Black – The sticky stuff.
Questionable local dirtweed – smells questionable and tastes even more questionable. Usually a crappy amount with lots of stems. However, no seeds.
Skunk – It's really good stuff.
