Marijuana laws and legislation for Kristiansand
From 2025, cannabis will remain illegal for recreational use in Norway. Possession, consumption, and distribution are punishable under the Norwegian Penal Code and the Medicines Act. While small quantities (up to 15 grams) are generally punished with fines, larger quantities or trafficking-related offenses can lead to imprisonment of up to two years, and in serious cases, even up to ten years.
Despite previous attempts to decriminalize drug possession, including a secret 2021 bill, Norway pursues a harm reduction approach, stating that drug addicts should not be prosecuted for small amounts for personal use.
Medical cannabis is legal but subject to strict regulations. Only a few approved cannabis medications, such as Sativex and Epidyolex, are available by prescription from Norwegian doctors. Unapproved cannabis medications with a THC content below 1% may also be prescribed under strict regulations. CBD products are considered medicinal products, meaning...
They are prescription-only and must contain no more than 1% THC to be legal. While Norway remains firm on cannabis, the ongoing debates about legalization, including proposals from politicians like Arild Hermstad, point to the potential for future policy changes.
Law Enforcement
From our local reporter: “My friend got caught in Kristiansand (Norway’s fifth-largest city). We were in a park. We kept seeing police officers, but we were able to hide well. They caught us with a couple of plainclothes officers. We should have noticed, but we were too stoned. It’s always two or more people walking around slowly and not having any fun. Pretty easy to spot as long as you’re not out of it. He was fined 2000 kroner, but expect more. By the way, drinking alcohol in public is prohibited, just like in the US. So if you see police officers, it’s worth it (or rather, you won’t get fined) to hide your beer.”
A word of warning: The police patrol these areas, as do undercover officers. On the fourth day, while smoking in the same park as some locals we'd met, we were caught by undercover officers. I can't give you many tips on how to avoid getting caught. It's your decision!
Where can you buy marijuana in Kristiansand?
During the Quart Festival, you can buy marijuana outside the festival grounds in a small park right by the sea with three fountains. Simply turn left before crossing a bridge towards the music area and walk along the seafront through the sponsors' area (you don't need a wristband or ticket to enter this area). Continue walking until you see the park; it's only a few hundred meters.
A friend and I easily bought 1,5 grams of perfectly block-shaped dark hashish. Can't say anything bad about it. Just sit on the grass and make friendly eye contact with potential dealers. Smile and make a gesture, maybe even put some hashish in your mouth. A couple of Somalis across from us quickly noticed this and invited us over. Twenty seconds later, both parties were happy. 😀 Just be nice to the people you meet, and they'll be nice to you.

Thank you so much for sharing, the delivery was quick. 🙌
This guy got me some amazing cannabis at a trendy nightclub, and it smoked fantastically. It quickly became one of my best vacation memories. I always contact him at securedsupplier420@gmail.com. Highly recommended.
Kristiansand Marijuana Brands and Prices:
100 kroner is the standard price for a gram of hashish, but with a bit of luck you can get it for 80. Every time I've bought hashish in Norway, they've given me at least half a gram for free.
