Marijuana laws and legislation for Jerusalem
Israel is one of the leading countries in cannabis reform. Since 1999, medical cannabis has been legal in Israel, and patients with conditions such as chronic pain or cancer can receive cannabis-based treatments by prescription. Israel has one of the most advanced medical cannabis programs in the world. In 2018, Israel also began decriminalizing recreational marijuana for adults. Possession of up to 15 grams of marijuana is now a criminal offense. Growing cannabis for personal use is also permitted, but public consumption of marijuana remains illegal. Israel continues to be a leader in cannabis research and has made significant progress in medical cannabis treatments. The country is also discussing the full legalization of marijuana for recreational use, but this has not yet been fully implemented.
Please note that marijuana laws are subject to change. For the most up-to-date information, consult your country's official resources or a legal advisor.
Criminal prosecution
Very relaxed. I've smoked in bars, on the street, on campus, etc. Unless you're doing something else, you shouldn't expect any problems with the police. They're too busy hunting terrorists to bother with an American smoking a joint. However, if you're carrying a whole bunch and you're flying in legally, you could run into trouble.
Where can you buy marijuana?
Tough decision. Go to Crack Square in the evening and ask the kids. It's near Sbarro, across from Coffee Bean on Jaffa Street. You'll recognize it when you see it. But I wouldn't give any kid my money to "get" it...

As I was walking along a street corner, this guy led me to some of the best natural cannabis strains I've ever tried. It made my trip an unforgettable experience. Before every vacation, I contact him at donhendersonlegit@gmail.com.
I can highly recommend it to anyone looking for high-quality cannabis.
Marijuana prices
For 100 shekels (25 dollars) you'll get about 4 grams. Don't expect a discount even if you buy in bulk. Most people won't sell for less.
Cannabis brands
Hash, hash, hash, and more hash. It's everywhere, and not too hard to find if you know where to look. Expect to pay around 100 shekels ($25) for about 4 grams. Nobody has scales, so it all depends on the eye of your source. You won't find decent weed to smoke. In one year, I only saw weed there twice. Once, my roommate bought a bag of seeds that had a small flower in it (or at least it looked like one). Another time, people were asking 130 shekels ($33) per gram for some pretty decent buds.
Further information
The hashish is actually pretty good. Everyone smokes hashish that's melted into cigarette tobacco. Don't smoke with an Israeli in his "water bong." That's an upturned, melted Coke bottle filled with black water, stuffed with a hashish-tobacco mixture... YUCK!!! Maybe you'll get lucky and find some that Israeli backpackers brought back from India... great stuff =.)
Don't take drugs.
