Marijuana laws and legislation for Jaffa

Israel is one of the leading countries in cannabis reform. Since 1999, medical cannabis has been legal in Israel, and patients with conditions such as chronic pain or cancer can receive cannabis-based treatments by prescription. Israel has one of the most advanced medical cannabis programs in the world. In 2018, Israel also began decriminalizing recreational marijuana for adults. Possession of up to 15 grams of marijuana is now a criminal offense. Growing cannabis for personal use is also permitted, but public consumption of marijuana remains illegal. Israel continues to be a leader in cannabis research and has made significant progress in medical cannabis treatments. The country is also discussing the full legalization of marijuana for recreational use, but this has not yet been fully implemented.

Please note that marijuana laws are subject to change. For the most up-to-date information, consult your country's official resources or a legal advisor.

Criminal prosecution

Although there are many marked police cars in Jaffa, they are not usually looking for marijuana users and dealers.

Where can you buy marijuana?

Most people in Jaffa smoke marijuana (hashish) and can easily tell you where to buy it. And don't worry: the people of Jaffa are very hostile to the police, so you're not in danger of getting into trouble.

As I was walking along a street corner, this guy led me to some of the best natural cannabis strains I've ever tried. It made my trip an unforgettable experience. Before every vacation, I contact him at donhendersonlegit@gmail.com.

I can highly recommend it to anyone looking for high-quality cannabis.

Marijuana prices

Jaffa, south of Tel Aviv, has some of the lowest prices in the country. Marijuana isn't as common among smokers in Jaffa, but very strong hashish is easy to find. A finger's width of hashish (melted into 10 cigarettes) costs 100 shekels, which is about US$20. Marijuana is very cheap, costing about one shekel per gram, meaning 50 grams for 50 shekels (US$10).

Marijuana brands

Many strains of marijuana can be found in Jaffa, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Hydro, and sometimes also in Morocco and Jaras. Regular marijuana is harder to find, but still possible.

Further information

Since Arabic and Hebrew are spoken in Jaffa, you can ask someone in Arabic, "Fi ishi rayeh jaie?", which means something like, "Is anything happening here?" (slang for "Is there any weed?"). Or in Hebrew, "Yesh kivun le grass," which means something like, "Is there a direction for weed?" (slang for "Is there any weed?"). In Jaffa, as in all of Israel, the preferred smoking method is with a short, test tube-shaped bong, which is available in various combinations at every kiosk. In Jaffa, it's traditional to smoke until the weed burns and is sucked into the water, emptying the test tube.
