Marijuana laws and legislation for Frankfurt
In Germany, the cannabis law, which comes into effect on April 1, 2024, allows adults aged 18 and over to possess up to 25 grams of cannabis in public and up to 50 grams in private residences. Individuals are also permitted to cultivate up to three flowering cannabis plants at home.
Non-profit cannabis social clubs with a maximum of 500 members are permitted to cultivate cannabis collectively for personal use and distribute up to 50 grams per member per month. Commercial sales remain prohibited, and consumption near schools, kindergartens, playgrounds, sports facilities, and certain pedestrian zones is restricted at specific times.
Criminal prosecution
In Hesse (a German state), up to 30 grams is considered personal use. If you have more than 30 grams on you, you'll likely be classified as a dealer. However, you could also be arrested for just one gram or even a single joint – it all depends on the officer's mood. On the other hand, it's common knowledge that even police officers in Germany smoke weed themselves. Sometimes, if they catch you, they'll simply confiscate your weed, say it will be destroyed (probably by smoking it…), and you're free to go.
Don't smoke weed in public, but if you're chilling in the park, it's okay. The police are quite friendly, but since possession is illegal in Germany, you should be a little careful, even if they won't check you. You're allowed to have it in your body from the age of 18, so it's pretty straightforward.
And also: “Your stuff will be gone, but if you seem peaceful, don’t worry. They can’t even arrest you. I once witnessed an argument with a crack addict or something. The crack addict was really angry because they caught him smoking his stuff on the street. In the end, they just took him in because he apparently wanted to punch them.” Where to buy marijuana in Frankfurt: Our local reporter says: “DON’T BUY AT KONSTABLERWACHE! I’m from Frankfurt, and absolutely nobody buys there except tourists and idiots who are high. So PLEASE DON’T buy at Konstablerwache (okay, you can buy stuff there, but you’ll most likely get dirty hashish (really dirty) and it won’t even get you properly high).”
To buy marijuana, just keep an eye out for it. As mentioned above, people smoke in parks, etc., so that's probably the best option if you're new to the city.
Others tell us: Look near Konstablerwache station. Keep an eye out for the young people from the Middle East; they all seem to be selling hashish. Some of it's good quality, some of it is bad. Twice I bought a pretty good piece (5 grams) of good Moroccan blonde hashish and a 4-gram portion of very poor quality, I don't know what. Be careful. Always check the stuff before you leave. If it doesn't smell good, don't buy it. There don't seem to be any smokers left in the parks by the river near the Römer mentioned in the original report.
Another reporter added: “Arabs largely run the street trade themselves. Stick with them. Like in your favorite gangster movie, it probably takes some time to build a relationship with someone who can introduce you to the game more deeply. I think at first, just wandering around and searching, you'll really only find hash. It's best to ask for a number or see if the dealer is around often. In any case, I advise you to avoid buying on the street as much as possible, as it's always more expensive.”
Konstablerwache is definitely the main meeting point. There's an area near the second of the two subway entrances (the first is the central one) that isn't as crowded; even in the city center, it's packed. The best time is after 18:00 PM, as things have calmed down a bit by then. For the past few months, they've been stationing guards near the subway stations. I don't know if they're there to keep watch or just to make sure there's no trouble in the city.
Keep a close eye on the police. You can recognize German police officers by their green uniforms. I think only the younger officers are keen to catch you, as the older ones believe that hashish isn't very harmful. In Germany, it's more about expanding your existing network to find a good supplier, because the good one is like 1 in 1000. If you're only there for a short time and insist on weed, tell them you're prepared to pay, and that could be a problem. If the price is right, it's all good, even if they might get a little cheeky.
Marijuana prices
Since the 2006 FIFA World Cup, prices have risen dramatically. Before 2006, you had to pay around 5–7 euros per gram. Today, prices range between 7 and 10 euros (around 12 euros at Konstablerwache, so avoid buying there).
Other reports state:
Hashish €5,00–6,00/g
Grass 7,00–8,00 €/g
Marijuana brands: As diverse as a rainbow, that's all I can say. You could get stuff that takes you to the universe, from where you can see the desert, the Great Wall of China, and your own house. Or you could just sit there, coughing, wondering, "Am I high? Am I high?"
Comments
While passing a small shop, I was helped to buy wonderful, natural marijuana. The excellent quality made my vacation unforgettable. I contact this person at securedsupplier420@gmail.com whenever I travel. I highly recommend them to anyone who needs high-quality cannabis in the city.
Further information
Just give it a try. You can definitely get high within 1-2 hours, so you won't starve. But try to get a feel for how it's done here. That's the best way to progress.
Enjoy it, there are some cool people to hang out with. Check out Bergerstrasse – a cool little street for a stroll, and it has the best hamburgers this side of the pond.
Smoking weed in public: The only place I'd personally be afraid to smoke is the city center. Anything around the city center is fine, just watch out for the police. People won't report you, they might glance over briefly, but that's it.
If you're a real stoner, you should definitely visit the head shops in Frankfurt! You'll find all sorts of stuff there!
Again, I'm warning you: Konstablerwache is definitely NOT the right place. If you want the good stuff, just ask some German teenagers who look like stoners, that'll do.
If you get caught, don't worry, it's not a big deal.
To get a fair price, you should get to know people. That way you'll get a little more each time you pick up weed.
One last tip: There were several American settlements in Frankfurt, one of which is still active. You can find this settlement near the Dornbusch subway station (U1, U2, or U3) in the direction of Ginnheim, Gonzenheim, and Hohenmark. When you arrive at Dornbusch, just ask for this American settlement (a 2-minute walk). There you'll find American teenagers who had the same problem as you. This will make it easier for you to get help finding marijuana.
