Marijuana laws and legislation for Cork

Since February 2025, recreational cannabis has remained illegal in Ireland. Possession, cultivation, and distribution are prohibited under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977. However, recent developments indicate a shift towards a more health-oriented approach. The government has announced plans to decriminalize possession of small amounts of drugs, including cannabis, for first-time offenders. Instead of facing criminal charges, those found in possession would be referred to public health services for education and treatment. This initiative aims to prevent young people from accumulating criminal records for minor drug offenses, while maintaining strict penalties for drug traffickers and dealers.

In the medical field, Ireland has introduced the Medical Cannabis Access Programme (MCAP), which allows patients with certain conditions access to cannabis-based treatments. These conditions include severe epilepsy, spasticity associated with multiple sclerosis, and chemotherapy-induced nausea. Despite the programme's introduction, access remains limited, and ongoing discussions aim to expand its availability to more patients.

Ireland permits the sale and use of cannabidiol (CBD) products, provided they contain less than 0,2% tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). CBD is not classified as a medicinal product by the Health Products Regulatory Authority (HPRA) and therefore cannot be prescribed as a treatment option. Industrial cultivation of hemp is legal with a license from the Department of Health, but is subject to strict regulations, including limits on THC content and the demarcation of cultivation areas from public roads.

In recent years, a growing movement for the legalization and decriminalization of cannabis has developed in Ireland. Several political parties and independent members of parliament have expressed their support for reforming cannabis laws. At the end of 2024, a legislative committee recommended decriminalizing the personal use and possession of all illegal drugs, including cannabis, signaling a potential shift in Irish drug policy.

Law enforcement in relation to cannabis

There are three main rules to avoid trouble. (1) Be discreet: Don't smoke around children or in public places. There are plenty of places to relax in Cork. (2) Don't smoke soapbar (low-quality hashish) as it's associated with large criminal gangs and the police crack down much harder on it compared to marijuana.
The Gardaí estimate the price of soapbar at around €180 per ounce, although it costs only €100 on average. The Gardaí estimate the price of an ounce of marijuana at €100, but in reality, it costs around €400 on average. (3) No hard drugs

Where can you buy marijuana?

Although many people own cannabis, few deal with it or even admit to it. Dealing is taken seriously under Irish law. It's worth checking out some of the trendy pubs north of the river. Peace Park in the city center is full of alternative types, but as far as I know, smoking is no longer allowed there. Try Shandon Street (be careful!), Paul Street, and the university. There's also a hemp/grow shop near the university. I can't remember the name, but it's definitely worth a visit.

I received assistance in purchasing high-quality marijuana at a large shopping mall. It tasted excellent and made my vacation perfect. Since then, I contact securedsupplier420@gmail.com before every trip. Highly recommended.
