Marijuana laws and legislation for Dijon
Strict cannabis laws will come into effect in France in 2025. Recreational use will remain illegal and will be punishable by a €200 fine. The government continues to firmly oppose legalization. Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau emphasized the link between drug use and gang violence. Despite calls for reform, such as a national referendum proposed by the mayor of Grenoble, the French government prioritizes drug control and law enforcement over legalization.
Medical cannabis is currently undergoing a trial phase in France, which began in 2021 and has been extended until July 31, 2025. The program, involving approximately 1.800 patients, aims to evaluate cannabis-based treatments for conditions such as epilepsy, neuropathic pain, and the side effects of chemotherapy. The results of this study could influence future legislation on medical marijuana in France. However, cannabis remains strictly regulated at present, and there are no plans for broader legalization.
Criminal prosecution
Generally, it depends on what kind of police officer arrests you. If you're unlucky, they'll throw you on the ground or take you to the police station for a few hours.
Where can you buy marijuana?
In my opinion, it's hard to find. In ghettos near the city, it's usually not a problem, but caution is advised.
During the day, families usually pass by Place du Président Wilson, but at night, especially in summer, you might meet someone.

Marijuana prices
5–10 euros per gram for commercial and other marijuana, very often cut (but anything is possible in France ^^, you might get lucky). 10–15 euros per gram for acceptable to very good hashish (hard to find).
Hashish is mostly imported from Morocco.
If you find weed, you're very lucky (and pay attention to the quality, because if you find good weed, you're very, very lucky).
But beware: In France, there have been several reports of marijuana adulterated with glass, sand, and other substances such as sugar. Mostly imported from the Netherlands.
