Tolerance for smokers

Legislation:
In Belgium, possession of cannabis is not legal in any specific quantity. However, possession of up to 3 grams of cannabis by adults for personal use is tolerated. It is also said that a single female plant is tolerated. The police will record the owner's name, but the Belgian state does not prosecute them. We have been informed that a new law permitting the medical use of cannabis has led to the police being more lenient regarding possession of small amounts of non-medical cannabis.
According to the FA, there is no legal way to buy or import cannabis or its seeds.
If you do not understand French, below is an excerpt from Belgian law stating that cannabis quantities up to 3 grams will not be confiscated from the consumer.
Another reporter added: “You can carry up to 5 grams without worrying about the police, but since the law is quite confusing, the police sometimes confiscate even small amounts. Smoking and dealing in public is illegal.”
Criminal prosecution
Smoking cannabis is illegal in Belgium, but as in much of Europe, the police rarely confiscate more than 3 to 5 grams. Even chopped cannabis can be considered a drug possession. As elsewhere, it depends on the individual police officer you encounter.
Another reporter added: “Every time I come to Antwerp, I smell and see people smoking weed. Most police officers tolerate smoking (as long as it is not excessive or near schools), but public dealing or disturbing the peace will get you into trouble.”
Where can you buy marijuana in Antwerp?
There's a square called Groenplats, one of the city's main squares. I approached a few people who looked like hippies, and they helped me. Interestingly, knowing who to recognize and presenting yourself as a fellow smoker is crucial in every city.
Another reporter added: “I think (I have my own resources 😉) most young people will help you find good weed. Since it’s so ubiquitous, you’ll probably find it yourself without the help of others.”

The price depends on the quality. Poor quality costs around €2–3 per gram, but for something decent you usually pay €5 per gram. Prices are comparable to those in the Netherlands (only 10 km north).
